An exciting and unusual marriage proposal in the cinema
It was supposed to be just an ordinary movie session. But something different was about to happen. On the movie theater, a trailer started that looked more like a movie about to be released, but in reality it was my proposal to Pamela Atina.
As we both work with photography and wedding films, movie theater was the perfect option, representing what we love to do.
Preparation of the marriage proposal
But it wasn’t easy, you see? It was a year preparing everything, from script, filming, editing, negotiating with the cinema and the main thing: Doing all this without her being suspicious. Difficult, right? Even more that we share the passwords of social networks.
I wanted it to be a really high quality production and whoever was watching it thought it was really a movie trailer.
It was very difficult to negotiate with the movie theater, I sent the e-mail and it took them about five months to reply, in the second e-mail it was another five, is cinema difficult to contact eh?
When I finally managed to negotiate, I started filming.
The filming of the marriage proposal
I hired the production company that would do the filming work, I called a friend from college who loves the screenplay area to help me write something. The man is good huh, the ideas started to flow quickly and in a few days we had the script ready, including the narration lines. I ran to talk to my friend Segio Cavazzoni, who is a narrator for the National Geograph channel, he agreed to make the narration of the marriage proposal, in fact, he gave it to me as a wedding gift.
In the itinerary I would arrive at the mall with a bicycle, and the one I intended to use was in another city, so it’s simple, just get it by car, right? It didn’t fit in the car and the friends who had bigger cars were not available for work reasons. And now? I went to the other city, took the bike, rode and pedaled at 21:00 PM to my home (I arrived at 12:00 AM), went through a lot of trouble, crossed extremely dangerous neighborhoods but managed to get home unhurt lol. The next day, I spent the whole day with her grandfather filming. (Grandfather is a foster father, so I asked her for his hand in marriage).
The day of the marriage proposal at the movie theater
The big day came, her whole family came from São Paulo to attend the marriage proposal at the movie theater in Brazil The deal was that we would all go to the cinema together and before I started the trailer I would say that I would go to the bathroom and put the clothes on. But everything went wrong, I went to get tickets at the cinema and when I was leaving I received a message from Pamela’s cousin, saying that I couldn’t wait and they were already arriving at the mall.
I ran to a clothing store to hide until they entered the movie theater. Then I went looking for a shirt and tie that were similar to the ones I use in the trailer, since I couldn’t go to my house to change clothes, luckily I was carrying my jacket in my backpack. Already dressed, I ran to the movie theater, the previous trailer was already past, I entered the corridor with the bouquet of flowers and got ready, at that moment, while the marriage proposal trailer was shown, all the cinema employees were around me thrilled, and of course I got emotional too hahahaha.
When the trailer was over I went up thinking that the room was almost empty (when I got the tickets, 15 minutes before the movie started, very few seats were sold), when I looked, the room was full, I froze, I had prepared a speech for tell her but the only thing that came out was “You deserve much more than that” hahahah. After all the emotions you will see in the video below, we went to a restaurant that is inside the mall, to celebrate the engagement party that was already prepared.
