Two young entrepreneurs from the Baixada Santista, south coast of São Paulo, are gaining space on the international scene, collaborating for the recognition of Brazilian photographers in the competitive photography market. Douglas Atina and Pâmela Atina transformed what was a dream of the teen age into a lucrative business and achieved international awards for best photography and audiovisual development, proposing a different aesthetic and language that drew the attention of the market and specialized critics.
Douglas tells how it all started: “Since high school we have always produced creative videos for schoolwork using very common cameras, which everyone had access to. The passion for this area arose at the age of 15, when we made videos and photos as a hobby, without imagining that we would follow professionally. After a few years, we decided to go together to a university of photography and cinema and we have been improving our look for what we call creative photography in the area of weddings. After graduation, we founded Arco e Flash Fotografia and started to be professionals in the field ”.
National and International Awards
What the two partners did not imagine is that in a short time they would be recognized in national and international photography and audiovisual awards and that they would be nominated for the Oscar of World Photography, the Golden Lens:
“This year I decided to send my work as a filmmaker to the two largest photography and wedding video competitions in the world. In the first attempt, we were awarded both. We won the Inspiration Photographers and the Premio Bride, two great prizes at national and international level, and now we have been nominated for the Golden Lens, considered the Oscar of world photography. The sensation is inexplicable, things that at first seemed impossible, happened almost all at once. We do our work with so much love and put so much energy, but at the time we don’t even imagine that this effort will be rewarded by being seen and requested not only here but also outside ”.
According to Douglas, the work they seek to develop has stood out for presenting unique characteristics: “we are self-critical and we are always looking to evolve, in search of something totally differentiated, customized, non-standard and with a high level of excellence. But above that, our focus is to create a real connection with the client, making photography or video not just another service, something automated. That is why we have also been sought out by couples from outside the country seeking this type of exclusivity. We already serve couples from Mexico, Punta Cana and Chile, for example ”.
